Three Rivers Medical Center sees rise in cardiovascular emergencies after Bicentennial Burger Week

The doctors and administrators of Three Rivers Medical Center (TRMC) released a statement this week informing the community of an increase in cardiovascular emergencies, such as myocardial infarctions and acute myocardial angina. This news comes directly after the town and county saw a 400% increase in red meat consumption following the inaugural Burger Week in celebration of Louisa’s Bicentennial.

TRMC had its biggest numbers since the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, with its ICU beds at or above 90% capacity. The hospital staff was stretched thin, raising concerns about the level of care patients were able to receive at TRMC. These concerns were alleviated by TRMC CEO Craig Mizer who responded to our inquiries by saying, “Despite what some people have heard, and our reputation in the community, TRMC does hire actual licensed doctors and nurses. Obviously, we are able to meet the healthcare needs of our community… and if we aren’t able to, we will send you to King’s Daughters via a really expensive ambulance trip which we will bill you and your insurance for.”

The Bicentennial Burger Week, itself, was a smashing success with many delicious burgers sold and ravenously consumed by the citizens of Lawrence County.

The readers of the Big Sandy voted on their favorite burger.

Best Burger:

Hillbilly Hibachi “Pineapple Teriyaki Smash Burger”

Runner-Up:

Toro Loco “Macho Burger”

Seriously, we here at the BSLazer thank the Lawrence County Tourism Commission (Facebook link) and all the local restaurants for making the first Burger Week a great success! We look forward to the next Burger Week!

Also, this is the last day to order a “Billy Bob Loves Charlene” T-Shirt to support the Lawrence County School’s Family Resource Centers. Without giving too much away, we are working on something for Septemberfest, and we are looking for a way to reward those who participate in this fundraiser. Don’t get your hopes up though, it’s nothing super amazing… Or is it?... It’s probably not... But it could be… I wouldn’t get too worked up about it though…
